So, as I’m sure you’re aware, the Wii came out this morning (Sunday).  Now, some stores had midnight launches last night, but there were none in my area.  At first, I thought I would stay up, checking Amazon.com.  However, there was very little hope that they would ever get them.  At around 3:45 A.M., I decided to go to Circuit City to join the line.

I should point out that I never do things like this.  Camping out to buy something is sort of a sad activity.  However, I really wanted to show my family the Wii at Thanksgiving, so I had no other choice.

When I got to Circuit City, I found out that they had 24 in stock and there were 27 people waiting.  With that knowledge, I decided to head next door to stand in line at WalMart (again, not the best choice).  I really hate that store.  However, I was 4th in line, so that was really good.  Rumors were that there were 26 left.

After being lied to by various employees, a woman came out at 6:45 am to tell us that they were having a raffle(!).  I mean, come on, a raffle?!  She said it was the “only fair way” to sell the systems.  Now, for those of us who had been out there for 3 hours already, this was a bit much to take.  However, we had no choice.  I grabbed my ticket and was ready to be mad.

Seriously, equal opportunity is not fair and neither are raffles.  About 5 minutes before the start of the raffle, there were 40 of us in line.  In the next couple minutes, a bunch of employees and friends showed up, boosting the line to about 80.  Then we found out that there were only 20 units.

Luck went my way this time and I got my Wii!  Unfortunately, the woman ahead of me, who had been waiting much longer, didn’t get one.  But, I got my system, went home, slept, set it up, and then played.  It’s great!  Emily and I really, really, really like it.  I can’t wait to show everyone!  Anyway, that’s my Wii Launch story.
