Modding Your iPhone: AppTapp
|
Modding your iPhone just became a lot easier with the release of AppTapp (it’s the link under “new GUI installer”). Just download the program, quit iTunes, run the installer, and select your firmware (the newest version is 1.02). After waiting about 2-3 minutes, your iPhone will have a new icon on its homescreen, Installer. Use this application to install other 3rd party applications directly to the homescreen, including Doom, an NES emulator, a program to add songs as ringtones, and even a “Lights Out” game. Installer will keep track of when these programs need updating and even lets your uninstall and reinstall applications whenever the need arises. Good luck and have fun modding your iPhone.

How can I uninstall the AppTapp if I no longer want to keep it?

AppTapp is just an OS X program that loads installer.app onto your iPhone. If you want to get rid of AppTapp, just drag it to the trash. However, if, as I suspect, you want to get rid of Installer.app, you can do 1 of 2 things. First, use installer.app to uninstall all the apps that you’ve added. To do this, just click on the “uninstall” tab on the top of the screen and click on the names of the applications you wish to remove. Then, when you’re done removing applications, uninstall installer.app. The other choice you have is to just restore your iPhone through iTunes. It should keep most of the stuff on your phone, but backup your photos and remember what YouTube videos you’ve favorited. Hope this helps!!

Thank you for the answer, but I already tried to uninstall the installer.app using the installer itself, and it didn’t allow me to do that. In the other hand, I don’t know how can I drag the installer.app to the trash, since I can move that from the iPhone…

So, if you go to your iPhone and open “Installer” there should be a menu that runs across the top.
Install Update Uninstall Sources
If you click on “Uninstall” you should see “Installer” under the “System” category (probably towards the bottom).
Ah, I see what you’re saying now. If you try to uninstall using installer, it only lets you reinstall the program. In that case, you may need to use a program like Cyberduck and just drag the application to the trash. I would follow my directions on the “Modding Your iPhone” tab for adding NES games and find the applications folder and remove the installer.app from there.
The applications folder (if you’re using CyberDuck) is: /Applications
(navigate to the root to find the folder)
If this doesn’t work, a restore should.
