Bush’s Speech

President Bush addressed the country last night, attempting to rally the country in our continuing war in Iraq. The sum of his speech was that we will stay in Iraq until we are no longer needed. Fine, I agree with that. As I’ve stated in this blog before, we made a mess that we need to clean up. However, we need a plan. The major initial objections to the war were based on the lack of an exit plan. That same plan is still missing. Bush and the rest of the government need to come up with a plan to start fixing the situation and get out of Iraq.

On a side note, no more 9/11 references, Mr. Bush. From now on, you are forbidden to reference that day in your speeches. Saddam and the Iraqi people were not connected to the 9/11 attack and, even if they were, stop drawing upon it to make Americans more falsely patriotic. Patriotism isn’t about having a flag in your car or attaching yellow ribbons to your truck–it needs to be more than that. Patriotism is questioning the war in Iraq and asking our government for a plan of getting out of there in order to help both the American and Iraqi people. Stop with the 9/11 references, seriously.
