This election went well for Democrats, who urged for change and a new direction. Republicans had to face the reality of war and their allegiance with an unpopular President. Just as successful as ‘06 was, ‘08 presents greater possibilities. Republicans, Democrats, and third parties will (hopefully) come out with new ideas and programs. But in order for true, good change to happen, the “American People” must answer a challenge.

Stop being so stupid.

In all seriousness, it is our duty to listen to and form ideas, mull them over, and try to figure out which one stays in line with our values and beliefs. Note the key word, “our.” Not what the preacher says, not what the the celebrity says, not what the media says, not what anyone says but you. In order to have values and beliefs, you must read the news, educate yourself, and never just accept what you are told. If everyone in America stayed on top of the issues and educated themselves about all the sides, our country would be a far better place. Currently, the American people are too easily manipulated by advertisements, obvious attacks, and gross misinformation. Again, we, as Americans, must respond to the challenge, educating ourselves about everything and helping to inform our friends and family. Only then will our society be truly great.
