iPad Life - No Laptop for 31 Days

For the month of May, I will be using only my brand new iPad as my primary computer. And I will be blogging everyday about the problems I run into as well as some of the unique opportunities this cutting edge device offers me. You can find the blog here:

Some caveats about this experience:

  • I know an iPad isn't a replacement for a computer. However, I become more and more convinced everyday that my computer is worthless. I don't use any of the high-end applications anymore, I can't remember the last time I used the disc drive, and, to be honest, it's very clunky compared to the iPad.
  • While I will be using the iPad at work, my computer will still be my primary tool there. I might have some interesting insights about using an iPad at work, but that's about it. I can't see many offices surviving just on iPads at this point.
  • I will use my laptop to do the occasional sync, but that's it.
  • This blog won't be updated during the month of May. I'm looking forward to actually blogging about something specific instead of offering random insights into my personal life. After running this blog for 5 years, it'll be nice to take a break.
So, that's the setup.

31 days. No laptop. Only the iPad.

I can hear me swearing from here.

See you in June.

Yippie! An Award

I was just notified this morning that AIER won the Association Media & Publishing 30th Annual EXCEL Bronze Award for Most Improved Newsletter for the redesign I helped lead while there. It was a national competition featuring 175 winners from nearly 1,000 entries. Needless to say, I'm quite excited about it.

Congrats to all who were involved!
