Finally! A refreshingly good free iTunes single. Matthew Good, completely unbeknownst to me, is a very popular Canadian singer. As a huge fan of the Barenaked Ladies (no, I really don’t like “One Week” that much), I can definitely hear some similarity. Good’s voice is slightly rough, but still very strong and melodic. Born Losers is a great folk rock tune that is easily worth the download.

Stop reading this and go download it.

We went to Emily’s house this weekend to celebrate her dad’s birthday. It was a very enjoyable weekend and I hope he had a good birthday. Looks pretty happy, doesn’t he?

On the Road

As you may have noticed, there’s a new category of posts on my website. “On the Road” is a collection of the posts that I’ve created when I’m traveling thanks to the easy way of blogging pictures that the iPhone has allowed me. I hope you enjoy these posts–they should be more relevant and timely than the traditional “look backs.”

This week’s personality profile is:

Birds who fly into your car

I guess this should really be BWSSM edition–birds who should be sent to Mars. Anyway, I get so mad at these birds lately who fly right into your car as you’re driving. I mean, it’s not like I’m coming out of no where. Clearly, birds have eyes, but, also rather clearly, they don’t use them. It seems that a bird’s train of thought is: “Hmm, what a lovely day. I think the only way to make this more lovely is to try to fly right into this car. Off I go dear!”

We hit a bird this morning on our way to work. It was completely unavoidable. The stupid thing flew directly into our car. That doesn’t mean I don’t feel bad. I’d rather send them to Mars where I won’t end up hitting them.

Probably the last installment of the DC photos: American University. We headed there immediately on the first day so that we could see where Jer is going to school and spending all of his time. As it turns out, it proved to be a great opportunity to try the iPhone. In fact, when we paused for a group photo, a couple of girls offered to take our photo and were quite thrilled to be able to use the iPhone. So, they got to use it and we got a nice photo–not bad!

iPhone Tip

Here’s a great little tip I found over at TUAW.com. When you get a missed call and you want to know who it was, click on the little blue arrow next to the number in your missed call list. You’ll get a brief summary page that includes the location of the caller. What a great way of trying to figure out who it was!

The next installment of the Washington DC photos: the other Presidential memorials that we visited on Saturday. It was quite the hike! My favorite moments were seeing the Jefferson Memorial for the first time and seeing FDR’s dog memorialized.

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton criticized fellow hopeful Barack Obama for being “naive” after he said that he would sit down with leaders of “renegade” nations like Cuba and North Korea. Naive? Maybe. But is this worthy of criticism? Certainly not. If our country is going to change course and make the world a better place, the first step will be calm negotiations and opening up good channels of communication with all nations. Obama should not be criticized for making this claim–it is the only reasonable course of action if things are going to change for the better.

Hillary’s still not exactly doing it for me. I wish she would stop acting like a “veteran” politician to create her image–she needs to go back to her roots when she was young and idealistic, fighting for a better healthcare system.
