Parent’s Weekend

Emily’s parents came up this weekend. But first, on Friday night, we went to Colgate to see a play and go out to dinner. We went to the Hamilton Inn and had a fantastic meal. Then we saw the play, “The Miser.” The following day, we went Apple picking, bought some pumpkins, and tried to find Kira a coat. Tomorrow, we’re going to get brunch together before seeing them off. It was a fantastic weekend!

Halloween

Well, we gave the ole’ pumpking carving a shot. Jeff and Katelyn’s are on the left, mine’s in the middle and Emily’s is on the right. I tried to do a landscape and Emily did a tree and Fuzzy. She did a great job! I didn’t. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

New Music Vol. VII

Welcome to the new “music fridays.” Posting every Friday is not easy, so this is now a spontaneous post. This week’s albums are:

The Killers - Hot Fuss
James Blunt - Back to Bedlam
Coldplay - Fix You EP from iTunes

Amazing stuff. The Killers are probably one of the best new bands out there, give them a shot.

Emily and I were able to spend the weekend at home to get work done. Today, she spent the day at Project Connection, where she painted quite a bit.

We were hoping to go apple picking, but the weather didn’t hold out. We ARE planning on going next weekend however with Emily’s parents. Should be fun!

School is going well, although it is very busy. Feel free to email me (rtgooden@syr.edu) if you want to say “hi” since I know I haven’t been updating this as much as I should.

In case you hadn’t heard, Apple also updated their PowerBooks and PowerMacs. The upper level PowerMac is now a “Quad” meaning that it has dual dual-core processors. Pretty neat stuff! Apple also released Aperture, a possible future replacement for Photoshop, although they deny that theory.

If you’ve never seen a Wallace and Gromit movie, you’re missing out. Wallace and Gromit focuses on a British inventor, lover of cheese, and his dog, Gromit. In this movie, they’ve started a business “Anti-Pesto” to protect crops from rabbits. But when one of Wallace’s inventions goes wrong, they come under the curse of the Wererabbit. The movie is done by Nick Case–remember Chicken Run? Go out today to see the best movie of the year. A+

On Saturday, Emily and I went to Vermont to visit with my grandparents. We played some games, talked a lot, and went out to dinner at Pauline’s. We left Sunday morning, sad, because we had such a nice visit. On the way back, we stopped at Basketville to buy some baskets for Fuzzy and to pick up one to store my magazines in. It was a fantastic weekend!

I hope everyone is watching how, with this most recent earthquake, Indians are helping out Pakistanis, despite their years of fighting. It just shows that sometimes a conflict isn’t the most important thing. It also means that people can forgive past problems when events like this happen. Of course, America had its chance with 9/11, but we seem to have blown that one pretty badly.
