Howie Day Concert

Last night, Emily and I drove down to Rochester to join Adam and Sujata for a Howie Day concert at RIT. It was quite the show. Brandi Carlile opened for Howie. She has a cool sound–kind of like a cross btween Stevie Nicks and Bonni Raitt. Howie put on a great performance, going solo the whole night. If you haven’t seen him with the pedals (or seen him at all), check out his website for tour dates.

To make the night perfect, Adam, Emily, and I stopped by Nick Tahou’s for a delicious garbage plate. Then we drove home in “near-tropical depression” conditions. Of course, both of us had a big test first thing in the morning. Oh well! What’s more “college” than that?

Getting into Shape

In London and in California, I lost about 25 pounds total. Coming back to school, I was worried that I would start putting the weight back on. That was before I met the hill I have to climb several times everyday…

New TV Shows

For those of you who don’t have TIVO and don’t have time to sort through all the shows this year, let me tell you what you should be watching:

Lost - Best show on TV. Period.
House - That other best show.
Medium - Give it a shot! Patricia Arquette is doing an outstanding job.
Law and Order: SVU - You’d be foolish not to be watching this (except if it hits too close to home).
My Name Is Earl - Early candidate for best new comedy.
Family Guy/Simpsons - Can’t beat it for laughs.
Prison Break - Gets better and better with each episode.

If you have any questions about these shows, let me know. I’ll point you in the right direction!

It’s finally here. The Nintendo Revoultion, the next big console from Nintendo, has the coolest controller ever. Here is its list of features, straight from IGN:

3D Pointing Sensors understand up, down, left, right, forward and backward.
Tilt Sensitive Controller can be rotated or rolled from side-to-side.
Buttons Included Has a trigger on its backside, face buttons, and a D-Pad.
Multifunctional Has an expansion port which can be used with different types of controller peripherals. Analog stick with two trigger buttons planned for left hand.
Wireless Totally wire-free. Currently there are no details on the max distance, source or power, or otherwise.
Rumble Built-in Included as a standard in all the controllers.

Combine this with the ability to download any game from the NES, SNES, N64, and play it on your Revolution and you’re looking at the best system ever designed. I’m convinced. Now, when’s it coming out?

Willy and Betty

Emily and I have adopted two dogs this week, Willy and Betty. I should really call them “Nintendogs.” In case you missed it, this game rocks. It lets you teach your dog tricks, enter it in contests, and buy it lots of stuff. Willy got first place in the open class Disc throwing competition yesterday, I was quite proud of him. Emily just adopted Betty last night, a little poodle who happens to be, very very cute. Willy is a lab. I highly recommend this game to everyone. Go out and buy a Nintendo DS and Nintendogs today!

GREs

Yesterday, I took another big step in deciding on what I do after college. $115 dollars and half an hour later, I’m registered to take the GREs in November. Should be interesting. My current thinking is that I just want to see what score I get and start looking at schools in the meantime. So many decisions to make senior year. 19 credits doesn’t exactly leave me with a heck of a lot of free time to think about it. But it should be fun. After all, what’s $40,000 here or there.

Long Weekend

On Friday, Emily and I left after class to pick up her sister at Colgate University. On Friday night, Jeff, Katelyn, Kira, Emily, and I went out to dinner at Ichiban, which is very similar to a Benihana. After Ichiban, we went to Clark’s, a pub in downtown Syracuse that reminded Emily and me very much of London. On Saturday, Emily and I went out to lunch with her parents and Kira and then went to the football game (we won 31 - 0, but it was against SUNY Buffalo–not exactly big competition). After the game, we dropped Ki back off at Colgate and went home for a quick bite to eat at Ruby Tuesdays. Quite the weekend!

Apple Goes Crazy!

My favorite company (besides Disney, of course) is at it again! Apple has released the brand new iPod Nano–it’s 1/2 the thickness of the Mini and has a full color screen. Plus, there’s no more mini, only the Nano. On top of that, iTunes 5.0 is now out. Included with the release is the fact that all 6 Harry Potter books are now available for purchase. For $550, you can buy all six books along with an exclusive Harry Potter iPod. Check it out, it’s cool!

Even better, Apple and Cingular have released the first iTunes phone. I would recommend going to Cingular to get all the details. It holds up to 100 songs! Apple. Best. Company. Ever.
